How to protect yourself from the CoronaVirus in the Gym
We all know by now that the virus is a big deal, a pandemic, and nothing to joke about. A lot of people are making positive changes to their hygiene and lifestyles so that is a good thing. This virus is deadly and super contagious so it is important we understand it but not let it ruin our lives. That is why we are writing this article for those still wanting to go to the gym.
Our last article spoke about the supplements you ought to be taken but this article is what you should be doing in the gym if you want to keep up with your gains.
Here are the top things to do in the gym to stay safe away from Coronavirus:
1. HANDS DO NOT GO NEAR THE FACE!
The only way you will get this virus is if it gets into your system. You cannot get this virus through the skin so that means it needs to be inhaled or contracted through the mouth. Your hands will be the main carrier of the disease because they touch everything (duh). That means that if you do not bring your hands to your face, you will be fine.
2. WASH YOUR HANDS
If you go into a restroom, you MUST wash your hands. Heck, wash them twice!
3. WIPE DOWN YOUR MACHINE
Your gym should provide you with sanitation wipes and you should use them and use them frequently. Make sure you wipe down the main part of the machine but keep in mind where you are using your hands. The pin, the weights, the handles, in front of any part your mouth/nose is within 5ft...WIPE.
*I actually pad my pockets with wipes just in case - I put my hands in my pockets to make sure they are sanitized. Also, what goes in your pocket (hint, it is the next rule)
4. BE CAREFUL OF PHONE USE
Your phone is probably carrying the most amount of bacteria. Your hands are all over it so that means your hands are touching all of that bacteria. As I just mentioned, make sure you are using those wipes to wipe down your phone too. If you use your phone, your hands become a risk...so Purel after or wipe after.
5. USE PUREL WHEN YOU CAN
Along with wipes, your gym should have Purel stations...use them!
6. STAY AWAY FROM GROUPS
If you can, keep your distance from people in the gym. Stay away from large gatherings because it is better to be safe than sorry.
7. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE
I think you get the most important rule. If you know how the body works and how the virus spreads, you can protect yourself. Make sure you tell a friend these rules and make sure you follow them to ensure your safety.
