What Wednesday: Fenugreek
Today we are going to dive into a unique ingredient that’s not in every supplement. This ingredient is called Fenugreek and yes, I agree, the name is dope! It already sounds badass and trust me, at the end of the article, you will agree.
Fenugreek is an herb of the pea family and also known as Greek hay. Think of it as muscle hay going forward. This new supplement has gained steam in popularity due to its natural testosterone boosting effects on top of many other benefits.
Being that it has so many benefits, let’s start with the most important for muscle building…the test boost. Fenugreek has a high content of furostanolic saponins, which are phytochemicals that work in the body to support the release of luteinizing hormone from the pituitary gland. This influences the trigger to support testosterone production. Evidence also suggests that fenugreek directly stimulates the body to produce more testosterone by increasing the activity of key enzymes involved in converting cholesterol into testosterone. This will directly increase testosterone levels which allows the body to build muscle faster and recover more efficiently. Increasing testosterone also directly affects strength levels so expect some personal strength records going forward!
So that’s pretty amazing, what else can Fenugreek do? Check this list out:
- It’s antioxidant properties reduce swelling inside the body
- Due to increase in testosterone, it will increase libido too
- Just like #1, it has been shown to reduce swelling outside the body as well
- Increases appetite which is great for muscle building when needing to be in a caloric excess
- Shown to increase performance in the gym
- Shown to increase the absorption of creatine
Overall Fenugreek is a great supplement for building muscle. It will help your body recover not just from working out, but will increase your gains outside of the gym as well. The best part of this natural supplement is that you will experience natural strength gains without harming your body. Back in the day, we would use Tribulus to “jack up” our testosterone naturally, but now with more research, we are finding better ways to naturally reach better test levels. Right now the answer is an ingredient similar to this one!
Keep an eye out for Fenugreek in your supplements going forward.
